Time to gather, celebrate and take some photographs, so the memories will never be forgotten.
When I was starting my official photography journey, I did not really think about extended family photo sessions. As a starting family photographer, I focused on natural newborn photography and family photography with young children, but inquiries for extended family photo shoots started coming especially after 2020. Only after my first extended family photo shoot I realised how special and important the photographs from such gatherings are. Not only has the family a reason to get together, but this is also a great opportunity to document it all and take natural family portraits of all family members and not only that! I love taking photos of the little things that emerge on the scene, like a little bouquet of daisies given to the youngest family member.
What is my approach
My approach to extended family photo shoots is very intuitive and relaxed but as there are more family members, I mostly play the role of a gentle director on the scene. Depending on the weather, location and also the ages of the little family members, I pick the best spots and if necessary, rearrange the scene (especially if we meet in your back garden). You can rely on my skills and experience and just enjoy the time with your loved ones.
Bookings for 2023 open
If you are thinking about an extended family photo shoot in 2023 as a gift for your parents (so we can take photos of the grandparents and all the grandchildren as well), please do not hesitate to get in touch. We can arrange a short chat on the phone and then go from there.
And lastly, here is one example from an international family gathering that happened here in Dublin to celebrate one important milestone in life. I really feel so honoured when you choose me to capture photographs at such important events. And here is a little note to the family members in these photos, you will all really stay in my heart, thank you for all the kind words in emails and messages and most importantly, thank you so much for letting me share your images with others.
Love,
Michaela
