Walking along the beach always brings some calmness to my heart. The sound of the waves, the breeze playing with my hair and the sea shells catching my eyes every so often. A beach is a great place for family memories, so many lovely opportunities for play, a great...
Outdoor Family Adventures
A few weeks before Christmas last year, I ran a giveaway on my Instagram account together with my lovely friend Emma from Life with Tiny Humans. The giveaway was a family photo shoot in St. Enda’s Park for one lucky winner. St. Enda’s Park is one of my favourite locations for family photography in Dublin, and here are our final photographs from one amazing family photo shoot with two boys and their mum and dad.
As having two boys myself, I was really happy to hear that the family who would join me for the giveaway shoot has two boys also. I was really looking forward to meeting them and sharing all our favourite places. We had a little walk, put the wellies on and had so much fun in the stream running through the park. I sometimes feel more like a tour guide in the park, talking about Pádraic Pearse, showing the directions or sharing some of our favourite activities every family can enjoy there. I really believe that it is not only about the final photos but also about the great time we all have together, so you will not only have the photographs but you will also remember that it was some fun and time well spent.
I think the best summary of the session was also done by the mum in these photos who left a few lines in a review on my Google page:
“Once travel restrictions were lifted, we got to spend the loveliest evening exploring the park and Michaela captured so many beautiful, natural shots. Michaela made us feel so at ease and was so patient with my relentlessly chatty boys. I will always cherish the photos from our session and I honestly couldn’t recommend Michaela more to anyone looking to capture some beautiful family memories.”
I really love meeting families and their children. I always try to connect with your little or bigger ones. I love having the very important chats like who is the best character in Paw Patrol or what colour is the helicopter in Fire Man Sam. Only my knowledge of Star Wars is very poor I realized after meeting the boys in these photographs. I guess I have to prepare a little bit harder for my next family photo shoots.
A big thank-you to this family for letting me share our images here.

"Michaela Mac Donnell came to our house one sunny Sunday morning and spent a few hours with us capturing our life as a new family. She is such a lovely person and so easy to work with. It was like having a friend in the house as opposed to a stranger and she just observed us and took photos, with as little intervention as possible. Her use of natural light, beautiful composition and ability to capture the best of us meant I got exactly what I was looking for and far more beyond that. Thank you Michaela."
